AASU conference concludes

Parliamentary Secretary for Law and Justice, Jacob Zhimomi, while lamenting in his observation that the present Naga generation, especially the youth, is fond of imitating Western culture only in dressing and living style but not adopting the Western “work culture,” encouraged the students to seek quality education and to be truthful students.
Jacob said this in his speech as the chief guest during the 37th general conference of the Aqahuto Area Students’ Union (AASU) which was held from January 2-4 at Pimla village on the theme “True education.” This was stated in a press release issued by AASU president, Hukheto Aye.
While stressing on the importance of work culture, Jacob Zhimomi said that only through work culture can the younger Naga generation thrive and prosper.
SDO (C) Dhansiripar, Albert Ezung, who was the guest of honour, said the need of the hour is “unity among the Nagas, irrespective of tribes and isms.” He also said that Nagas should give up the pursuit of searching for easy money and engage in honest labour.
President, Aqahuto Area Pastor Fellowship, Kiyezhe Chishi, also exhorted the students.
Seminars on “Adolescent health and HIV/AIDS” and “Sumi women and our society” were also conducted with administrator, Legislators Forum on AIDS, Miss Hukatoli Choppy and Esther Ayemi, advocate, as resource persons respectively.
Winners in the various competitions included: Lothavi Students’ Union (traditional fire making); Kiyevi Students’ Union (traditional hopping); Shokhuvi Students’ Union (traditional couple show) and Pimla Students’ Union (March Past).
More than 800 students from 14 units of AASU attended the conference.
Meanwhile, AASU has acknowledged the contribution of all participants and donors and well wishers for their physical and material help in making the conference a success.
