The ABAM Music Ministry successfully organised its first-ever Music Festival on July 31 at Impur, bringing together church choirs from Zone I for a day of worship, fellowship and praise.
Held under the leadership of ABAM Music Coordinator Asenla Longchar, the festival marked a significant milestone for the ministry, with 12 church choirs comprising 396 singers participating in the event. The choirs represented Alempang BA, Chakpa BA, Chuchuyimpang BA, Impur BA, Longjang BA, Longjang Compound BA, Longkong BA, Longmisa BA, Longpa BA, Süngkomen BA, Tzüsapang BA and Yisemyong BA.
Speaking on the occasion, Longchar said the festival was organised to glorify God through music, proclaim the Gospel, strengthen unity among churches and choirs, encourage fellowship through worship, and inspire younger generations to carry forward the ministry of music.
She said the initiative sought to reaffirm music as more than an element of worship, describing it as a ministry that nurtures faith, proclaims the Gospel, strengthens fellowship and leaves a lasting spiritual legacy.
Delivering the message, ABAM Executive Secretary Rev. Temsü Jamir reminded choir members that singing in the church is a sacred calling rather than a performance. He urged them to serve with humility, devotion and spiritual commitment, recognising their vital role in leading God’s people in worship.
Rev. Jamir also called on Ao Baptist churches to move beyond routine forms of worship towards vibrant, Spirit-filled and Christ-centred worship that actively engages the congregation. He emphasised that choirs are not merely musical performers but spiritual leaders who, alongside pastors, help awaken hearts, encourage participation and lead believers into a deeper experience of worship.
He said that when worship flows from hearts surrendered to God, music becomes a powerful instrument for drawing people closer to Him, renewing their faith and transforming lives.
The inaugural festival concluded as a celebration of unity in Christ, fellowship among churches and the shared ministry of music. The ABAM Music Ministry expressed gratitude to all participating choirs, singers, churches, organisers and supporters for making the historic event a success, and affirmed its commitment to further strengthening music ministry across the ABAM family.
