Abduction of truck driver condemned

Various organisations have condemned the alleged abduction of a truck driver by two unidentified miscreants at Reliance Smart Point, Burma Camp, Dimapur in the wee hours of July 31.

DSSU: Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (DSSU) has vehemently condemned the abduction and strongly denounced such action, and asserted that individuals or groups must not act above the law. In a press statement, DSSU said though the driver was later released, such incidents create a negative impact on businesses and ultimately affect the employment prospects for the youth in the region. DSSU has urged the law enforcement agencies to take swift action and conduct a thorough investigation to bring the culprits to justice.

NCSSU, VSKK, NCCK & UNB-B SKK: In a joint statement, Naga Colony Sumi Students Union (NCSSU), Veterinary Sa Sumi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (VSKK), Niu- Colony Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (NCKK) and UNB-B Sumi Sa Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (UNB-B SKK) have vehemently condemned the abduction.
While condemning the act, the student bodies said such threats or extortion would deter companies to import-export or set their business in the state.

Further, the student bodies under Burma camp have urged upon the law enforcing agencies not to leave any stone unturned and bring those culprits under the law.

DCCI: Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has condemned the alleged kidnapping of a truck driver at Burma camp, Dimapur. DCCI said that kidnapping was not only an offence but the highest act of cowardice that not only brings physical but mental trauma to the victims but to the whole family. Noting that it was unbearable for the business community as they have to pay multiple taxations to 18 factions, the DCCI said many businessmen have no choice but have started leaving Nagaland especially Dimapur due to constant threat, intimidation and insecurity.

The DCCI also demanded the law enforcing agencies to come to public as to what extent they have been able to provide security to the business community as series of kidnappings and summons have been carried out to their Ceasefire monitoring office for collection. Further DCCI warned that it will resort to indefinite shutter down in the event of such incidents happen again.
