Twelve students from the Ao community were conferred N.I. Jamir academic excellence award for securing top 20 positions in the HSLC examination 2023.
Advisor Transport, Technical Education, Temjenmenba graced the programme held at Molu Ki, Kohima on June 10.
Speaking at the programme, Temjenmenba congratulated the toppers for their achievement in the HSLC examination and encouraged them to keep working hard and strive to reach greater heights as they continue with their studies.
He also encouraged them to take inspiration from the life and achievements of N.I. Jamir, who despite numerous hardships was able to attain the highest government office in the state.
Retired chief secretary, Alemtemshi Jamir, also delivered a short speech on behalf of the family of late N.I. Jamir where he congratulated the toppers for their achievements and thanked the Kohima Onpangkong Telongjem for keeping the legacy of his late father alive through the award.
N.I. Jamir Academic Excellence Award is an initiative of the Kohima Ongpangkong Telongjem and has been felicitating academic achievers of the HSLC examination since 2007.
Till now 106 has received the award. The award carries a certificate of achievement and a cash award of 10,0000.
The list of awardees for 2023 are as follows: Mulungsula Changkiri (10th Rank), Imnaakum Imsong (11th Rank), Jungshinungla (11th Rank), Rongchensenla (12th Rank), Wangshizenla (13th Rank), Imtitongzuk (15th Rank), Maongkala M. Imchen (16th Rank), Sungtiben Kichu (17th Rank), Molungben Longkumer (17th Rank), Rongsennungla Longchar (17th Rank), Imnasenla M. Longkumer (18th Rank) and Temsumenla Jamir (20th Rank).
Late Thungchano excellence award for Lotha-girl student
A felicitation programme-cum-late Thungchano Tsanglao academic excellence award for Lotha-Girl Student achievers in HSLC 2023 was organised by the family members at Kohima on June 10.
Late Thungchano Tsanglao academic excellence award carries a cash award of Rs.15.000 and a citation certificate.
This year, the recipient of the award was Erenbeni Ngullie, daughter of Areni and R. Mhathung Ngullie who secured 11th position.
It may be noted that late Thungchano as an educationist and a social activist, devoted her life towards the cause of education and for the upliftment of the status of women. She was married to Dr. L. T. Tsanglao and did her matriculation from Government High School, Wokha (Assam, Education Board) in 1964, graduated from Mt. Tiyi College Wokha in 1981 and B.Ed in 1988 SCERT Kohima.
To honor her vision, passion, commitment and dedicated service, in her memory, the family members have instituted the award.
