
ACAUT Nagaland team along with over seventy members began its ‘Walk Against Corruption’ from Dimapur (Chumoukedima) to Kohima on Friday.
The ‘Walk Against Corruption’ was flagged by Chumoukedima village chairman, Razouvotuo Chatsu.
ACAUT members said it would be a historic walk to show that “not everything was fine in Nagaland”. They also said that the walk was to affirm that ACAUT was determined to fight corruption that has plagued the society to the extreme.
ACAUT further reiterated saying: “Nagaland today is trapped in high corruption equilibrium and though the state Government is presented with evidences of pervasive corruption penetrating into every sphere of our daily lives, the inability or the unwillingness and the very casual attitude of the Government toward this malaise just goes to demonstrate how sick and pervasive corruption has become in the State of Nagaland”.
The members also demanded– that the HPC recommendations submitted to the state government should be implemented and a strong Lokayukta in the state.
The group halted for the night at Piphema and head for Kohima on October 31. The walk would culminate at Raj Bhavan, where a petition would be submitted to Nagaland Governor, coinciding with the 3rd anniversary of the ‘October 31 public rally, 2013.
