ACAUT Nagaland alleged that passing of Nagaland Prohibition of Gaming and Promotion and Regulation of Online Games of Skill bill, 2015, in the Assembly “at the cost of Lokayukta Bill was at the behest of a single legislator”.
In a press release, ACAUT media cell claimed that the precedence and urgency in passing the bill had shown that the entire NLA was hijacked by a parliamentary secretary representing the “interest of an outside gaming company”.
ACAUT has also questioned the legislators as to how the august house gave more importance to gaming bill rather than the Lokayukta Bill. It reminded the legislators that they should not be afraid of the Lokayukta, rather should be viewed as progressive to allow transparency thrive in the society. ACAUT warned the state government that unless it was made privy to the contents of the Lokayukta Bill, passage of it will lead to unwarranted situations.
