Assembly Constituency Congress committee (ACCC) 60 A/C Pungro-Kiphire has appealed to the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) for immediate revocation of the suspension order served to the District Congress Committee (DCC) Kiphire and its subordinate committees, as well as the elected PCC members of the 59 & 60 ACs.
In a suspension order, issued on November 19, 2024, and letter dated November 20, 2024, NPCC has served a 30-day suspension period and a proposal for the formation of a new team.
In a letter addressed to NPCC, the ACCC 60 A/C president, Kamkiu and general secretary, L. Achumba clarified that DCC Kiphire has been fully committed and adhering to instructions from both the NPCC and AICC. Emphasizing that DCC has been working diligently to strengthen the party in the district and has collaborated effectively with other party members to ensure the party’s smooth functioning, the ACCC 60 A/C said it supported DCC and PCC members and recommended their leadership.
ACCC 60 A/C has also opposed the move of Lithriyem Yimkhiung, who was never enrolled under 60 ACCC or DCC Kiphire. They claimed that his recommendation for the post of PCC secretary was not done through proper channel, and they have no knowledge of his appointment. Instead, ACCC 60 A/C claimed that ever since his appointment, the party has seen political unrest of conspiracies for removal of all the DCC, ACCC, PCCs and frontal organizations.
They pointed out that Lithriyem unofficial visit to Kiphire without prior official information to DCC and his provocative speech addressed during his “anonymous meeting with 59 ACCC” raised concerns among party workers.
Describing his reports on the unofficial visit to Kiphire, the ACCC 60 A/C claimed that Lithriyem has manipulated the NPCC order with the appointment of two men committee by re organizing the DCC, ACCC,and all the subordinates without the knowledge of Longtili C Sangtam duly appointed by NPCC in the committee.
The ACCC 60 A/C also opposed the suspension of Throngdiba C Sangtam, an elected PCC member, terming the decision as unconstitutional and highly objectionable.
Further, the ACCC 60 A/C appealed to the NPCC to settle the matter promptly and revoke the suspension order for the larger interest of the public of Kiphire and for the proper functioning of the Congress party.
DCC Kiphire seeks AICC intervention
District Congress Committee (DCC) Kiphire has appealed to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) to intervene on the matter regarding the suspension of DCC Kiphire, ACCC Pungro-Kiphire 60 AC, ACCC Seyochung-Sitimi 59 AC, and NPCC members from both 59 and 60 ACs.
In a letter addressed to Girish Raya Chodankar, AICC in-charge Nagaland and Christopher Tilak, Secretary AICC I/C Nagaland All India Congress Committee (AICC), the DCC Kiphire, president Likyuse Sangtam and general secretary Tsalichums Sangtam along with 17 other party functionaries of the district, DCC Kiphire said DCC Kiphire along with PCC members of 59 & 60 ACs and all the subordinates were “unexpectedly placed under suspension for a period of 30 days without any prior notice or explanation,” despite of their consistent efforts in adhering to all instructions and guidelines from both AICC and NPCC and their commitment to strengthening the party at the grassroots level. They appealed to AICC to investigate the rationale behind the suspension and facilitate a resolution that reinstates the DCC, PCC Members, ACCCs and its subordinate committees, recognizing their active and dedicated contributions.
