Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya highlighted the responsibility of the media, the fourth pillar of democracy in Nation building and how the media, both print and electronic, could play a crucial role in the overall development of the country through responsible reporting.
A press release from the PRO to Governor stated that Acharya was addressing journalists from prominent newspapers and news channels of Maharashtra at Maharashtra Patrakar Sangha, Azad Maidan, Mumbai on August 28. Acharya talked about the importance of development of the “Namaste North East” States for the overall development of the Nation and how the media could play an important role in this aspect.
Stating that the region had been neglected in the past, Acharya said it was the responsibility of every Indian to work for the betterment of NE India.
Acharya opined that only when all the States were developed equitably, India would develop as a strong Nation. He called on the media to play a very important part by focusing on the positivity of the NE region in order to portray a right image of North East India.
