ACP-Rank Officer Arrested in Mumbai for Molesting Minor

Mumbai Police have arrested an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) on charges of molesting a 9‑year‑old girl in Worli. The case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, after the officer allegedly performed obscene acts in a public garden and coerced the child into inappropriate behavior. The victim fled home and informed her mother, who promptly reported the incident. The accused was apprehended within hours and remanded to judicial custody by a local court.

Investigators revealed that another minor boy has since come forward alleging similar misconduct by the same officer a week earlier, prompting a wider probe. The accused, originally from Nagpur and posted to the Police Communication and IT Department at the DGP’s office in Mumbai since November 2025, has been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and POCSO. With no CCTV surveillance at Singh Garden, the case relies heavily on witness testimony and forensic evidence. The arrest has sparked serious concerns over accountability and discipline within the force, with senior officials assuring a thorough investigation to ensure justice.
