ACYA convention commences

The 32nd Angami Catholic Youth Association (ACYA) convention began here, on Friday at NAPO conference hall, Chiephobozou, hosted by St Dominic Savio parish.

With delegates from 59 Angami villages, the three-day convention on the theme “in your patient endurance, you will gain your soul,” commenced with unfurling of the ACYA flag by ACYA spiritual director, Rev. Fr. Vemedo Joseph Kezo followed by presentation of the newly composed ACYA anthem.

During the inaugural session, Department of School Education (DoSE), former director and main speaker, Vikepelhou Lucas Meyase shared on the theme and urged the youths to follow the principles of Christ.

He encouraged the faithful to show endurance, forgive one another and to lead others through good examples. He also challenged the youth to stand firm in their faith.

Addressing the gathering, Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN) president, Johnny Ruangmei reminded the youth to reflect on the purpose of the formation of ACYA.

He said that now was the appropriate time for youths to have a bold vision and urged them to retrospect the past and to imagine its future.

Pointing out that youths had the “power in their palms,” he advised them to ponder on how technology could be used to strengthen one’s spiritual faith.

He urged Angami Catholic Youth Association to be torchbearers since Angami tribe had a fair number of Catholics.

Day one of the convention concluded with recitation of the Rosary led by Christ the King Church Kohima catechist, Ruokuovituo Robert.

Earlier, Catholic Youth Association (CYA) Chiephobozou presented a special number and welcome note was delivered by ACYA president, Zeneikho-o Benedict.
