ACYA golden jubilee celebration begins

The 4-day, golden jubilee celebration of Angami Catholic Youth Association (ACYA) under the theme, “March on courageously” got underway at Don Bosco Higher Secondary ground, Sechü-Zubza on Friday. State Information Commissioner, advisor and former president, Catholic Association of Nagaland, Nosazol Charles who graced the inaugural day called upon the gathering to celebrate the jubilee by living a clean and honest life.


He reminded the ACYA members that jubilee was not only about celebration but also embracing a responsibility to live a life that reflects the values of their faith. He highlighted the expectations placed on the Angami youth, as they were seen as the face of the Catholic community, representing their traditions and beliefs.


During the second session, Vicar General, Diocese of Kohima, Rev. Fr. Neisalhou Carolus Kuotsu, spoke on the theme of the convention, emphasizing on the crucial words “wherever you go, the Lord will be with you”. He also stressed on the importance of drawing courage through divine intervention to strengthen their faith.


Kuotsu further said that leaders were chosen to guide and represent the people but that has not been followed by the people. Reflecting on the story of Joshua, the Kuotsu urged the gathering to learn from him (Joshua) and questioned whether the faithful truly support and help their leaders in times of need.


The session was chaired by Kenei Clement as chairperson, Akhrielie Bernick, assistant catechist of St. Luke Church Mima, offered the prayer, while Neikeselie, Albert Punyü read the scripture and Northern ACYA presented the choir.
Earlier, the inaugural session was chaired by Keleseho Stephen Tsükrü and the session began with a prayer by Catechist of St. Matia Goretti Church Sechü-Zubza, Medolepra Lucas while the convention hall was dedicated by ACYA spiritual director, Rev. Fr. Dr. Pezalhoukho George Rino.


During the first session, ACYA jubilee choir presented a special number while ACYA, president, Kelhouzasie Lawrence delivered the welcome address, Sechü-Zubza, CYA president, Seyiekhotuo Silvanus Chücha extended greetings on behalf of the host village while Khriebeizonuo Magdalene read a passage from the Bible.
