Angami Catholic Youth Association (ACYA) central executives along with unit office bearers had a get together at the legendary Cathedral Church as part of a religious ceremony – a ceremony that reflects Christ’s sufferings and death to redeem all sinners.
The Catholics called it “Way of the Cross”- a symbol reverence, where the faithful accompany and share Christ agony and pains through prayers; contemplating on the 14th momentous events known as the fourteen stations, when Christ toil up carrying a heavy cross enduring extreme sufferings for us. It is mostly done during the Lent season till the Good Friday.
Around 120 ACYA members, representing the four regions of the Angamis attended the programme. The members assembled in front of the ‘North Gate’ for invocation of God’s blessing by Parish Priest Rev. Fr. N Carlos. After short briefing and introduction, the members proceeded upward by saying prayers, halting and reflecting the passion of Christ in every station.
The members prayed not only for themselves but for peace in the world and particularly in the state. It also prayed for unity among churches, tribes, denomination. It concluded with a talk on the history of the ‘Way of the cross’ by R Rocus Chasie.
