ADC Mokokchung calls for wider postal insurance outreach

MOKOKCHUNG: Additional Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Atsungba Walling, has issued an official circular to expand the outreach of the Department of Posts’ Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) schemes across the district. The initiative seeks to leverage the state government workforce to strengthen social security coverage and financial inclusion.
According to a DIPR report, the schemes provide secure life coverage with low premiums and attractive bonus rates, catering to diverse income groups. Under RPLI, the sum assured ranges from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 10 lakh, while PLI offers coverage from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 50 lakh. With 402 post offices operating across Nagaland, the Department of Posts ensures that essential banking, insurance and citizen-centric services reach even the remotest areas of the state.
To maximize the reach of these welfare schemes, the department has introduced a new salesforce category called “Other Departmental Employee (ODE)”, enabling state government employees to act as sales agents for procuring PLI and RPLI business. Employees who take up this role will also be eligible for financial incentives.
The circular appealed to all government departments and offices within Mokokchung district to nominate one willing employee from each department or office at the Tehsil and Block levels to serve as ODE sales agents.
