Aboi District Demand Committee (ADDC) expressed dismay at the state government for not declaring Aboi as district HQ even as the government had recently declared Tseminyu, Chümoukedima and Nuiland as districts in December 2021.
ADDC media cell claimed that the state government turned deaf to their hue and cry despite Aboi fulfilling the criteria of a district. The committee cautioned that the public under the banner of ADDC would not sit quiet, but may “resort to undemocratic approaches of which the state government will be responsible.”
While reminding that Aboi HQ and Noklak HQ were approved during the cabinet memo 2011, ADDC said many other districts were declared in the process but its demand was ignored, despite being one of the oldest. ADDC demanded to know from the government as to the reason for turning down declaration of Aboi as district HQ despite having submitted a complete profile and feasibility for the creation of Aboi HQ.
ADDC admitted that even if the government took a decision not to create a district out of existing same tribe under Mon, it wanted to know considerations made for recent new creation of other districts.
Meanwhile, ADDC has convened a meeting on January 15 at 10 a.m. at local ground Aboi town with the Konyak Union Aboi Unit, Longching Unit, KNSK Aboi and Longchang Unit, Aboi Area Students’ Union, Chen Area Students’ Union, Longchang Area Students’ Union, Aboi Town Students Union, legislators from the area, presidents of 13 unions of Aboi Town, village councils and GBs under ADDC, all political leaders and all NGOs.
