Additional director, Information & Public Relations late Dominic Yazokie, was laid to rest at Vidima village on August 25 after the requiem mass and funeral service held at Holy Spirit Church Vidima.
Hundreds of well wishers including family members, friends and officials from Information and Public Relations department led by the director, attended the funeral service.
According to DPRO Dimapur, parliamentary secretary Er. Vikho Yoshu, who spoke on behalf of the deceased native village Kigwema, described late Dominic as a person of wisdom who was always ready to help people and the society at large.
He said that the vacuum created by the demise of his best friend and advisor would be difficult to replace.
Director IPR, Limawati Ao, described late Dominic as an able and fair administrator and also a fatherly figure to the younger officers. “As a senior officer in the directorate, he was the solid rock in which the department stood in times of hardships and uncertainties” he added. On behalf of the officers and staffs of the department Limawati expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that the departed soul rest in eternal peace.
Others who spoke during the funeral included retired director HE, Norbert Noraho, DPRO Dimapur, Lolano Patton on behalf of IPR district officers, vice president ACU Kevituonyu Simon, catechist St. Michael church Kigwema, Vimetha Vincent (on behalf of family) and others. Condolence messages of Nagaland governor and chief minister and Bishop Nagaland was also read out during the funeral service.
Late Dominic Yazokie passed away on August 24 at Bethesda Hospital after a brief illness. He joined the department of IPR in November 1985 as PRO Delhi and served the Government and the people with dedication and distinction in that position for nearly 18 years. After coming to the Directorate on promotion he served in various capacities including PRO to Governor of Nagaland, Nodal officer at CMs office etc. He left behind his loving wife, 5 children (3 sons and two daughters) and 6 grand children.
