Additional water supply for Kohima soon

Minister of PHED, Chotisüh Sazo, on Thursday visited the project site of augmentation of water supply at Zarü stream, Mima village, some 27 km away from here. 
The project involves pumping of water from Zarü stream to a reservoir at Kigwema Village through two stages of pumping. From this reservoir, water will be conveyed to the State capital by gravity. The project is one of the major water supply projects being undertaken by PHE department in the state. Sazo was accompanied by secretary PHED, Dr. Moangwati Aier, PHED chief engineer Er. Kevisekho Kruse and other officials. 
PHE department officials informed the minister that once this project was implemented the state capital would get another 3.80 million litres of water per day. They said the present supply of 1.50 million litres per day totalling to 5.30 L/day against the total requirement of 11 million litres per day for Kohima town. 
Er. Kruse said that another water supply project of 1.50 million litres per day was underway and once it was completed, Kohima town would get 7ML/day around 63% against the actual requirement.
PHE secretary advised the department to maintain properly and give proper in-charge of the project.
Minister and the team also interacted with the village council and GB of Mima village. The minister appreciated the villagers for providing water and sought their cooperation in the coming days. Village council chairman and GB of Mima village also addressed the team.
The project estimated at the cost of Rs.46 crore was taken up by the department beginning from 2012.
The department informed that the project was on at the verge of completion and would be inaugurated by the state chief minister within April or May this year.
