DIMAPUR: Department of Health & Family Welfare, Tuensang observed Adolescent Health and Wellness Day under the theme “Mental Health” at GMS Ngangpong, Tuensang Sadar block, on September 25.
During the programme, Dr. Wapangla, Medical Officer (RBSK), educated participants on recognising signs and symptoms of mental health concerns, healthy ways of coping with stress, and the importance of expressing feelings and seeking help when needed. She emphasised that mental health is an integral part of overall health and encouraged adolescents to seek support from parents, teachers, counsellors or health professionals.
Vistl, Adolescent Counsellor, District Hospital Tuensang, delivered health talks to help students understand the importance of mental well being. She explained the meaning of mental health, common problems among adolescents, and the effects of stress, anxiety and other emotional difficulties.
The session included interactive activities and discussions to encourage students to openly communicate about their feelings and promote a supportive environment. The medical team comprised Dr. Wapang, MO RBSK; Dr. Thonti, MO RBSK; Suthem, Technical Assistant RBSK; Yimsotola, ANM RBSK; and Vistl, Adolescent Counsellor, District Hospital Tuensang.
