Advisor Konngam Konyak inaugurates Peren treasury office

Advisor for Treasuries & Accounts and Art & Culture, K. Konngam Konyak, inaugurated the newly constructed Peren Treasury Office on Thursday. The office, built under the State Development Fund, was opened in the presence of Director of Treasuries & Accounts, ADC Peren and other district officials.
According to a DIPR report, in his address, Konyak emphasized the importance of safeguarding government properties, expressing concern over public negligence towards such assets.
He noted the district’s progress in road infrastructure and highlighted its vast agricultural potential, stating that effective land use could ensure economic self-sufficiency and strengthen food security in Nagaland. He urged citizens to focus on productive land use rather than depending solely on government services and contract works.
Konyak also raised concern over low enrolment in ITI centres in Peren, stressing the need for vocational training to promote skill development and self-reliance. He called for innovative approaches to sustainable development and discouraged leaving land resources idle.
Representing the District Administration, ADC Peren D. Robin described the relocation of the Treasury Office from Old Peren Town to the new District Headquarters as a significant milestone.
He said the move would enhance administrative efficiency and facilitate smoother financial transactions, benefiting officials and staff in their duties. Robin underlined the Treasury Office’s vital role in maintaining accounts and supporting departmental financial activities.
The programme was chaired by director Amenla Jamir, who delivered the opening remarks. Additional director Vechiso Chakhesang presented a brief history of the Treasury Office.
The event began with a prayer by pastor Nlumbui of District Headquarter Fellowship and concluded with a vote of thanks by Treasury Officer Itingaule Mpom.
