Advisor Yanthan stresses NE needs at AgriStack meet

DIMAPUR: Advisor for Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan, addressed the National Conference on AgriStack under the Digital Agriculture Mission and Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses in New Delhi on August 22, 2026. The conference was held in the presence of Union Agriculture & Farmers Welfare minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, along with ministers and senior officials from the Union and State Governments.
In his address, Yanthan highlighted Nagaland’s progress in AgriStack and Farmer ID, while pointing out challenges unique to the State such as difficult terrain, traditional land‑holding systems, shifting cultivation and absence of land records. He also placed emphasis on Nagaland’s priorities including pulse seed security, region‑specific crops, rice‑fallow and Zaid cultivation, and strengthening market linkages.
Yanthan appreciated Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s personal initiative and commitment to ensuring effective implementation of schemes through critical review and close monitoring. He further appealed for the specific requirements of the North Eastern hill States to be suitably accommodated so that the Missions deliver meaningful benefits to farmers on the ground.
