Advisor Zhaleo inaugurates new community hall at Khughovi Village

The newly inaugurated community hall.

DIMAPUR: A new community hall was inaugurated at Khughovi Village under the iconic project of the Local Area Development Programme (LADP) 2025–26, as part of the Nagaland Government’s initiative led by chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio to promote localized and need-based development at the grassroots level.
The Community Hall was formally inaugurated by advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Government of Nagaland, Zhaleo Rio.
Addressing the gathering, the advisor congratulated the leaders and residents of Khughovi Village on the successful completion of the project. He commended the quality of workmanship and described the newly constructed building as exemplary. Emphasizing the importance of unity and cooperation, he urged village leaders to work collectively towards sustainable development and called upon leaders at all levels to remain honest, dedicated and committed to public service while avoiding false promises.
Reaffirming his commitment to inclusive development, Zhaleo Rio stated that he considers himself a leader of the Nagas as a whole, dedicated to the welfare of all communities. He expressed concern that despite the Government’s efforts to distribute developmental funds across the State, certain sections of the public continue to create hurdles that impede progress.
Speaking on the ongoing Household Census in Nagaland, the advisor appealed to citizens to provide accurate information and avoid political influence in the process. He urged residents to register only in places where they are genuinely settled and cautioned against duplicate registrations, warning that such entries would be deleted. Referring to the 2011 Census, he noted that inflated and inaccurate figures had adversely affected the State’s credibility, resulting in poor performance in sectors such as education, rural development and healthcare. He stressed the need for strict adherence to census guidelines to ensure transparency and accuracy.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Omekali Aye, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Pikuto Kiho.
