Advisors, chairmen felicitated by departments

Government departments organised felicitation and introductory programmes for the newly inducted advisors and chairmen of respective departments, Tuesday.
Prison deptt.: A felicitation programme for advisor of Prison, Printing and Stationery Er. Kropol Vitsu was organised by the department of prison Tuesday, wherein the advisor granted five days remission to convict prisoners. The advisor granted the remission after visiting the District Jail Kohima after the felicitation programme.
Earlier during the programme, Vitsu encouraged the officials to share “innovative ideas” to improve the department. He also encouraged them to work on transforming the department, build the image of the prison department, and to give more effort in the reformatory activities in reforming the criminals. While assuring his cooperation to uplift the department, the advisor also sought cooperation of the officials and staff to achieve the objectives of the department.
In his speech, DG Prison, Renchamo P Kikon, on behalf of the department, congratulated and welcomed the advisor and exuded confidence that under his guidance the department would see “a sea of change”. Highlighting the activities of the department, Kikon said the was one of the important pillars of the criminal justice system, stating that the department was focusing on creating awareness and impart vocational training to the jail inmates so that they live a decent life after their jail period. The programme was chaired by Sr. research officer (planning) prison, C. Lwngnyei Konyak. (Correspondent)
DPDB Kiphire: A felicitation programme for the newly elected legislators under Kiphire district-cum-monthly Kiphire District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held Tuesday at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kiphire office.
According to a DIPR report, the programme was attended by advisor, Home Guard, Fire and Emergency and Civil Defense, Kiusumew Yimkhiung and MLA and chairman DPDB Kiphire, C. Kipili Sangtam.
Stressing the importance of DPDB attendance, Sangtam said that he would be strict on the member’s attendance at the next meeting and initiate necessary action against absentees.
The chairman said posting in far-flung areas should not be taken as punishment posting but rather take as blessing to help the downtrodden people. He then further appealed to the officers to put their efforts and work together for the progress of the district.
Thanking the officers for the warm programme, advisor Kiusumew Yimkhiung encouraged the members of DPDB and officers to re-dedicate themselves to the people of the district.
DC and vice chairman DPDB Kiphire, T. Wati Aier lamented that “some departments do not exist in Kiphire” and appealed the newly elected legislators to bring more departments into the district along with the HoOs. On the side-line of the programme, the NITI Aayog award was awarded to Ditanvong Village Council for best performance in Agri Sector-High Maize productivity and producing quality, Singrep Village Health Committee for best performance in the health sector, and Agnes Hosela of Kipongya ward Kiphire for best performance in the Nutrition sector. The Book “Kiphire: Where Adventure Meets Folklore” was also released. Some important agendas were discussed and approved to be forwarded to the government.
Treasuries & Accounts: An introductory programme of advisor, Treasuries & Accounts, Arts and Culture K. Konngam Konyak was held on Tuesday at the Directorate of Treasuries and Accounts.
A press release by the department stated that in his address, Konyak, expressed “happiness to be an advisor to the department even though it is a non- developmental department.” He encouraged all the officials of the department to be sincere at discharging the official duties irrespective of the place of posting, and discouraged approaching ministers/ advisors for transfer and posting.
Konyak instructed the officials and staff to be sincere and meticulous in their discharge of duties as mistake in accounting would lead to mismatch of the accounts thereby leading to wrong policy decisions.
The key note address about the activities of the department was presented by principal director, treasuries and accounts, R.N Yanthan.
NBHM: Nagaland Beeekeeping & Honey Mission (NBHM) organised a welcome and felicitation programme for its chairman, Obed Quinker Tuesday at the Multi Utility Centre Sovima, Chumoukedima district.
In his speech, Quinker spoke on team work and constructive criticism to improve self through innovation and up scaling of the mission’s achievements and activities
He said the government’s investment in the mission, over the years, should be with the amount of revenue generated for the state through the beekeeping and honey sector.
In his speech, advisor of Youth Resources and Sports, Keoshu Yimkuing said NBHM was a grassroots level mission and through the initiative of the mission the grassroots have been benefited immensely.
The programme included PowerPoint presentation on “Overview of NBH” and “Gaps and Priorities” by team members, Neilazonuo Terhuja and Nzanbemo K Lotha.
