An advocacy programme to mark anti-malaria month was held at the CMO Conference Hall, Mokokchung, on June 25 under the theme “Test, Treat, Track.”
Delivering keynote address, chief medical officer Mokokchung, Dr. Sentizungla Marina Yaden, said the theme was based on the WHO strategy introduced in 2010 for improving malaria diagnosis, treatment, and surveillance. She stressed the importance of early testing and treatment to prevent drug resistance and urged all to commit to the “Test, Treat, Track” approach to help India achieve its target of zero indigenous malaria cases by 2027 and elimination by 2030.
District programme officer (CD-I), Dr. Martula Lemtur, gave a PowerPoint presentation on malaria cases in Mokokchung. She highlighted key vector-borne diseases, their prevention, and treatment, along with district-level data and initiatives under the malaria control programme.
Deputy commissioner Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, emphasized the importance of observing anti-malaria month to raise awareness and promote community participation.
He appreciated the efforts of the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) and urged local leaders and stakeholders to take active part in malaria prevention. He stated that the department alone cannot achieve the goal without public support.
