Afghan Forces Crack Down on Narcotics

Afghan security forces dismantled two heroin labs in Ghor province, destroying over 6,000 kg of illicit drugs and seizing more than 6,000 kg of precursor chemicals. Authorities emphasized their commitment to eradicating poppy cultivation and heroin production nationwide.

Recent operations across Afghanistan have led to multiple arrests and large drug seizures:

  • Takhar province (Feb 23): Two smugglers caught with 41 kg of opium poppy and hashish.
  • Farah province (Feb 3): 75 kg of raw opium seized, two suspects arrested.
  • Herat province (Feb 1): Police intercepted a vehicle carrying 170 kg of opium and hashish, arresting two traffickers.

Officials reaffirmed that security forces will continue to prevent drug production and trafficking across the country.
