After brief service, body of AI cabin crew taken to Kangpokpi

Body of Air India cabin crew Lamnunthem Singson, who died in Ahmedabad plane crash on June 12, was received by family members at Dimapur Airport here Thursday. Singson hailed from Kangpokpi district of Manipur.
After a brief ceremony, which was jointly organised by Kuki Union Dimapur (KUD), Kuki Nute Kiloikhom (KNK) and Kuki Youth & Students’ Union Dimapur (KYSUD), the body was taken to her native village.
The ceremony was attended by a host of tribal leaders of various tribes, family members, community leaders, civil society representatives.
Various organizations and individuals including KUD, KNK, KYSUD, Naga Council Dimapur, Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum, Western Naga Youth Forum, Dimapur Airport director and NPCC working president C Apok Jamir, and bereaved family members shared condolence messages.
Representatives from various tribal bodies, Commissioner of Police, officials from Airport Authority of India, district administration of Chümoukedima and Dimapur, family and friends, etc, also laid wreaths and paid rich tributes to the deceased and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members. The body was later taken to Kangpokpi, where the funeral service would be held.
Singson was among the 241 people onboard Air India Flight AI 171, which crashed seconds after take-off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on June 12.
She hailed from Old Lambulane colony in Imphal but her family moved to Kangpokpi district following the outbreak of ethnic violence between Meitei and Kuki communities in 2023.
