Aggrieved Villagers reaffirm support for LH resolution on Foothills Road

DIMAPUR, JUL 13 (NPN)

Aggrieved Villagers on Foothills Road Forum from the Bhandari and Changpang areas has reaffirmed its unflinching support to the Lotha Hoho resolution concerning the Nagaland Foothills Road construction.
In a press release, the forum convenor Chumchamo Kikon and secretary Enoch Kithan informed that a meeting was held on July 12, at Bhandari Town, to deliberate on the current status of the foothills road construction and to revisit the recent minor alteration in the road alignment.
The forum recalled the formation of the Changpang Area Sub-Committee on Foothills Road in July 2024, in the presence of the Chief Engineer of PWD (R&B) and members of the Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC).
Subsequently, during the August 7, 2024 meeting held in Kohima, the forum said that the department assured that the Nagaland Foothills Road (NFHR) would be aligned in accordance with the wishes of the local area people, as originally envisioned since 2013.
The forum expressed appreciation for the recent demarcation of the 40 ft-wide approved alignment, complete with requisite pillars, initiated by NPWD (R&B) which extends from Longtsiri–Changpang ONCC–New & Old Tssori villages to Northern Sumi area, linking Longtho in Mangkolemba division via Sumito under Baghty division in Wokha district.
Calling the development “a welcoming note,” the forum urged the state government to expedite the commencement of construction work at the earliest.
The forum also acknowledged the support extended by the Lotha Lower Range Public Organisation (LLRPO) and Changpang Area Committee on Foothills Road to the Lotha Hoho’s representation submitted to the Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B) on June 15, 2024.
After detailed deliberations, the forum said it was unanimously resolved to reaffirm its full support to the resolution adopted at the joint consultative meeting held at Merapani on May 15, 2025, which was attended by the Lotha Hoho, NFHRCC and the Forum.
