Agri and allied departments organised a consultation programme on ‘Fostering of Climate Resilient Upland Farming System in North East’ Project-Nagaland (FOCUS) at the Capital Convention Centre, Kohima on April 12.
A DIPR report stated that State Project Director, FOCUS spoke on the salient features of FOCUS. She said the goal of the project was to foster climate-smart highland Agriculture for marginal farmers in Nagaland and to improve and increase livelihood options through sustainable and equitable use of natural resources. According to her, FOCUS supports traditional practices and culture, improving jhum cultivation, more productive and sustainable settled agriculture, access to value chains and supporting village livestock development.
Principal Secretary and APC, T. Imkonglemba Ao (IAS) launched the FOCUS website. Various topics under the Project Design, Project Management and Project Coordination of FOCUS were discussed during the consultation meet.
The FOCUS Project is being funded by International Fund for Agriculture Development. (IFAD).
