Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC) Nagaland Y.Kikheto Sema and Superintendent Engineer (Agri), Er. Achakbou Newmai Thursday inspected ongoing projects at Agri Expo Site, 4th Mile, Dimapur.
According to DIPR report, inspecting the ongoing construction of community marketing complex, Sema said organic agri and allied products of Nagaland would be available in the Hall measuring approximately 125×80 feet comprising of 66 different stalls.
He said the primary aim of the government was to provide an organised market for the local entrepreneurs, who are willing to sell their products by paying nominal rent.
The APC said through the facility, the department was expecting to create 140 direct and indirect employment opportunities for the unemployed youth.
Pointing out that organic vegetables was hugely marketable in Dimapur, he said organic vegetables grown in other parts of the state must reach Dimapur. With increase in production, he said importing vegetables from outside could be gradually restricted.
The officers visited the 100-bedded farmers’ hostel which is being constructed under RKVVY additional fund through the initiative of minister for Agriculture, Kaito Aye. They also visited the Organic AC Market of Nagaland State Agricultural Marketing Board (NSAMB).
