Agri dept launches digital platform to boost farming

DIMAPUR

Department of Agriculture, Nagaland, officially launched its new digital infrastructure at a function held at the Central Command Centre, Directorate of Agriculture, Kohima, on Wednesday.
Advisor of Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan, graced the occasion as special guest and lauded the department’s effort in building a comprehensive digital platform. The launch programme was attended by Agriculture Production Commissioner, Wezope Kenye, and other senior officials.
Yanthan highlighted the use of advanced technologies such as GIS, Remote Sensing, mobile applications, and centralized servers in the new system.
He said the initiative would help improve farming practices, increase farmer incomes, and enhance service delivery.
He called for greater focus on digital capacity building at the grassroots level and urged field officers to use digital tools for real-time data collection, monitoring, and timely advisory support to farmers. The department said the digital platform would aid better planning, efficient resource use, and effective implementation of schemes, benefiting the farming community across the state.
