Agri deptt refutes DDCC allegations over RTI disclosure

DIMAPUR, OCT 22 (NPN): Department of Agriculture has refuted allegations by the Dimapur District Congress Committee (DDCC) that it failed to disclose documents as directed by the first appellate authority, asserting that the required records had already been furnished.
In a press release, agriculture director Sanuzo Nienu said the department issued the response to allegations published by DDCC in local print media on October 14, 2026, concerning the alleged non-disclosure of records under an order dated September 2, 2026.
The department stated that the allegations were without material basis, adding that the first appellate authority had directed the Public Information Officer (PIO) to provide the required records, particularly invoices, delivery challans, supply orders, notices for empanelment, lists of empanelled firms and payment records for the period from 2021-22 to 2025-26.
According to the department, the PIO furnished the specified records and information in person on September 21, 2026.
The department further stated that the RTI Act, 2005, provides for an appeal before the State Information Commission if an applicant was dissatisfied with the decision of the first appellate authority.
Describing as “unfortunate” the decision of DDCC to air its grievances through the print media without availing the remedy provided under the Act, the department stressed that citizens and authorities alike were bound to abide by the rule of law. The department also termed the ultimatum issued by DDCC as contrary to law and urged the organisation to refrain from resorting to such actions.
