An Agriculture Produce Collection Centre constructed under North East Rural Livelihood Project (NERLP) – a project Under Ministry of DoNER Government of India – was inaugurated on November 27 at Ntu village.
A press release by office of the District Project Management Unit (DPMU) Peren stated the project was implemented by the Self Help Group Village Federation (SHGVF) under the supervision of DPMU Peren.
Inaugurating the centre as special guest, state coordinator NERLP, Ringsanbo Zeliang, appreciated the efforts of women SHGVF of Ntu village in successfully completing the project. He said the women have proved beyond doubt that they can take up bigger responsibilities beyond the four walls of their home.
While emphasising on economic sustainability, he said the collection centre would go a long way in enhancing the economy of the village, if utilized in a proper way.
Zeliang also stressed on the need to strengthen SHGs and the SHGVF so as to make a proper utilisation of the fund with proper and regular rotation of loan.
Block project coordinator, Janthuiyang RK John, who represented NERLP block project facilitation, also lauded the role of the SHGVF in timely completion of the work. He also encouraged the gathering to take the ownership of the building for the welfare of the village. In the program, an invocation was said by pastor Tunchapbo, welcome address by Namziusiliu, shorts speech by secretary Ntu SHGVF and the village council chairman and benediction by deacon, Namtanbo.
