AH&VS stall bags top honour at Nagaland Republic Day celebrations

DIMAPUR

The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Nagaland, won the first prize in the Exhibition Stalls category during the 77th Republic Day celebrations held at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza, Kohima, on January 26..
According to a DIPR report, the department’s stall featured an exhibition-cum-sale of local eggs, dairy products, live rabbits and quails, animal feed products, along with the distribution of educational flyers. The Department of Land Resources and the Department of Sericulture secured the second and third positions respectively in the same category.
The programme was graced by home commissioner and principal secretary to the Chief Minister, Abhijit Sinha, as the chief guest.
In the Parade Contingent (Uniformed) category, Tripura Police clinched the first position, followed by the 15th NAP (IR) Mahila Battalion in second place and Home Guards, Civil Defence & SDRF in third. In the Parade Contingent (Non-Uniformed) category, NCC (Girls) emerged winners, with NCC (Boys) and Bharat Scouts & Guides securing second and third positions respectively.
The Best Parade Commander award was conferred on deputy commandant, 5th NAP Battalion, Z. Tshurhosie Kajiri, while Gurpreet Kaur, IPS (Probationer), received the award for Best Second-in-Command.
Adding to the celebrations, an exhibition football match between Kohima District Football Association and Morning Premier League ended in a 1–1 draw. Band displays were presented by the 13 Assam Rifles Pipe Band, Nagaland Police PTS Brass Band, and Nagaland Police Auxiliary Brass Band. The programme concluded with the traditional Beating of Retreat ceremony.
