AIDA launches environmental protection programme

As part of its “World Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) Day” celebration, ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA), the social and human development wing of Salesian of Don Bosco, Dimapur Province, on Tuesday launched environment protection programme, Action for Protection of Environment in North East India Region (APENIR).
A press release by AIDA informed that through APENIR the organization aims to raise awareness, engage the community and implement practical solutions to protect our environment.


The “World NGO Day” celebration showcased the dedication of AIDA towards environmental sustainability and renewable energy committing to make a difference in the state.
Special guest of the programme, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) Dimapur, chief general manager, Tiakala Ao, acknowledged NGOs and their staff as unsung heroes of society.
She said it was absolutely essential to take a moment to appreciate their contribution towards eradicating poverty, hunger, human rights issues and support towards the marginalized section.


“Their impacts go beyond aid and services and are catalysts for pushing policies to change issues,” said Tiakala. She highlighted how NABARD collaborates with different NGOs to serve people in the interior regions. NGOs have always been one of the major partners to achieve NABARD’s developmental goals through the years.
The gathering was also addressed by executive director-AIDA, Rev. Fr. Roy George SDB and Rector, Don Bosco, Dimapur, Fr. Nebu Mathew SDB. The programme was attended by staff and students of Cornerstone College, Dimapur, led by principal, Dr. Abel, and AIDA staff.
