AIDA launches tailoring for women

DIMAPUR: ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) has launched a three month skill development programme “Empowering Women Through Tailoring” for women and girls of DMP I Constituency at Don Bosco Campus, Dimapur.
The initiative, conducted under the support of advisor for Tribal Affairs & Election, H. Tovihoto Ayemi, aims to promote women’s empowerment, self reliance and sustainable livelihood opportunities through vocational training.
The programme began with a prayer led by rector of Don Bosco Campus and director of DBIDL, Rev. Fr. Nebu Mathew SDB, followed by a welcome address from AIDA’s HR and director of Training and Programmes, Dr. Bibiana Lungbila.
Delivering the keynote message, Rev. Fr. Dr. Roy George SDB, executive director and chief functionary of AIDA, encouraged trainees to approach the training with dedication and perseverance. He cited success stories from earlier tailoring programmes, noting that tailoring remains a valuable livelihood skill. He also expressed appreciation to H. Tovihoto Ayemi for his support and acknowledged the facilitation by his personal assistant, Mharhonthung Murry.
Representing H. Tovihoto Ayemi, Murry conveyed the advisor’s message reaffirming his commitment to empowering women through skill based interventions. The programme will cover stitching, machine handling, cutting and measurements, garment construction, alterations, finishing techniques and entrepreneurship skills. A total of 60 beneficiaries will undergo training over three months.
