President of All India Football Federation, Kalyan Chaubey, extended condolences on the passing of Atuo Mezhur , a stalwart of Indian sports administration and a visionary leader from Nagaland. This was stated in a letter to secretary general of Nagaland Olympic Association, Abu Metha.
The press release by the AIFF president stated that Mezhur held the positions of Vice President and executive committee member of the All India Football Federation, contributing significantly to the growth of football nationwide, adding that during his tenure as President of the Nagaland Football Association, he played a key role in strengthening grassroots development and promotion youth football in the state.
Highlighting Atuo Mezhur’s contribution, Chaubey stated that Mezhur served as General Secretary of the Nagaland Olympic Association for over 15 years, contributing immensely to the development of Olympic sports and increasing athlete participation at national and international levels.
Additionally, Mezhur’s leadership as president of the Nagaland Table Tennis Association reflected his commitment to the holistic growth of sports in the region, the release added.
Chaubey stated that the demise is a great loss not just to Nagaland but to the entire Indian sports fraternity. He also offered sympathy to the family, friends, and colleagues of Atuo Mezhur’s on behalf of the All India Football Federation and the football community. Atuo Mezhur’s legacy will continue to inspire future generations, the release concluded.
