A ten-minute “Pochury Dialect News” would be aired live from primary channel (medium wave 639 KHz) at 11:35 a.m., and five minutes duration of the news would be aired at Akashvani Kohima FM Tragopan 103 MHz at 11:55 a.m., informed All India Radio News.
According to a DIPR report, a “Pochury Programme Live” was launched at Akashvani, Kohima Thursday wherein ADP and Head of Programme (HOP)Akashvani, Kohima, LK Mulony said the launch was a milestone for Pochury tribe and a fulfilment of decades long dream. He informed that by October 1, 2023, the “Pochury Dialect News” would be extended to 30 minutes.
In an aired message, Director General, Akashvani, Dr. Vasudha Gupta said the launching of “Pochury Dialect News” was a great achievement of Akashvani Kohima as it gives utmost importance to local languages for better and fruitful communication.
With the addition of “Pochury Dialect News”, she said Regional News Unit Akashvani Kohima will now cater to 15 dialect News Bulletins besides the two Regional News bulletin in Nagamese and English.
Deputy Director, IPR, Siewatho S. Nyusou said the launching of the news programme was a “landmark occasion” for Pochury people. He said the programme would unify the tribe emotionally and would help in preserving and developing the dialect of the tribe.
News Editor, AIR, Asonuo urged Pochury people to be keen listeners of radio programmes and to give constructive feedback and suggestions.
Vizhula Nyusou, Casual Pochury Dialect Reader, was the first to air the Pochury Programme. The programme was also aired on the NewsOnAir app.
