AKM appeals Centre for resumption of NPPC Ltd.

Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has appealed to the government of India to immediately execute work at NPPC Ltd. Tuli. In a representation submitted to union minister for heavy industries and public enterprises, during his visit to Tuli February 10, AKM pointed out that NPPC Ltd. Tuli was one of the peace process package after signing the first cease-fire agreement between Government of India (GoI) and the Nagas.
After 22 years of suspension due to various reasons, AKM said the initiative of the government of Nagaland and keen interest of government of India to revive the NPPC with a revival package of Rs.679 crore, approved by the centre, was indeed an exemplary step.
Further, AKM maintained that once the NPPC was revived, it would have a major impact on the economy of the state and also would bring solution in the present unemployment crises in the state.
In the representation, it also highlighted a few points for consideration: speeding up the process and release of the financial package; the amount already released and yet to be released be monitored and utilize under the guidance of the minister; financial package of revival should have separate account under the management of NPPC, Tuli and not HPL Ltd and creation of a post of managing director and immediate appointment for efficient management. AKM assured to intervene and solve any issue arising due to local situation for smooth functioning of NPPC Ltd. Tuli.
According to a DIPR report, NPPC workers’ union also submitted a representation to the minister demanding implementation of 2007 pay-scale for all NPPC workers mentioning that the NPPC workers at present are drawing their salary in the 1997 pay-scale.
