AKM backs JCC’s pen down strike

DIMAPUR, OCT 15 (NPN)

Expressing strong objection to induction of non-state civil service officers to the Indian Administrative service (IAS), the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has extended support to the ongoing 3-day pen down strike called by the joint coordination committee (JCC) of state services associations.
In a statement, AKM president Lanutoshi Aier and general secretary Satemmongba urged the government to ensure that induction to the IAS cadre was undertaken after a rigorous selection process that is free from nepotism and favouritism. AKM also called for protecting the rights and interest of existing civil servants and reiterated that “any deviation from this principle” could undermine the creditability and effectiveness of the administrative machinery.
AKM also maintained that every right-thinking citizen and responsible organization “must work cohesively” towards a common goal. It appealed for unity among all stakeholders in the larger interest of the Naga people.
Further, AKM appreciated the prompt action by CANSSEA and also acknowledged the coming together of affiliated associations in support of the move by CANSSEA. AKM this was aimed at strengthening and upholding the values of meritocracy for the benefits of the Naga people in general.
AKM further affirmed solidarity with CANSEEA in their demand for a fair and transparent process that upholds the value of the service rules. It also called for working together to ensure that civil services remained meritocratic, efficient, and accountable to the people.
