Expressing deep concern over the issues arising along the Nagaland and Assam border, Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) Monday gave a clarion call to all the citizens of Ao territory “to be prepared in safeguarding our ancestral land.”
Addressing a press conference at AKM office here Monday, AKM representatives stated that the union had been silently observing the border issue, which had not been addressed by both the sides.
In this regard, AKM has urged the state government to “look beyond the four walls of state politics” as Assam side had been accusing Nagaland for encroachment on many occasions. AKM stated that Aos have their own reserve forest in the ancestral land and dismissed the views of the Assam-based media.
The apex student body of Ao community also said that all the hills and valleys of the North Eastern states bordering Assam did not belong to Assam. AKM affirmed that it would not compromise an inch of ancestral land.
