AKM mourns passing of Zubeen Garg

DIMAPUR

Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has expressed deep sorrow at the demise of Zubeen Garg, one of the most iconic cultural figures of Assam and the North East.
In a condolence message, AKM stated that Zubeen Garg’s contribution to music transcended boundaries, with thousands of songs recorded in over nine languages across genres including folk, classical, devotional and popular music. His voice became a household presence not only in Assam but across India and abroad.
AKM noted that Garg’s humility, social concern and close connection with the people made him beloved far beyond the stage. His demise, it said, leaves a void in the world of music and in the hearts of many.
The Ao Students’ Conference extended condolences to his wife, Garima Saikia Garg, his family, and loved ones, as well as to his countless fans and admirers across the North East and the country. “We join the people of Assam and the entire North East in prayer, remembrance and respect for a life that gave so much to others. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” the message stated.
