Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) observed the 75th “Naga Independence Day” in front of the AKM office building.
A brief program was held to mark the occasion where AKM president Nungdokyanger hoisted the “Naga national flag” while former NSF president, Imchatoba Imchen spoke on the significance of the day.
Speaking at the programme, Imchatoba Imchen said that the event was meaningful as it was celebrated even beyond the borders of Nagaland.
Imchatoba said that the day was significant for Nagas as it was neither against the Indians nor the Indian army but it was through this day that Nagas asserted their historical and political rights.
He also stated that “Naga Independence Day” gave hope as Nagas yearned for peace and prosperity.
Imchatoba further said that that Nagas should stand and speak out for their indigenous rights.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by AKM general secretary Nekmi Longkumer while associate pastor Mokokchung Ao Baptist Arogo (MTBA) Rev. P Chuba Jamir said the benediction.
