Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has expressed concern over the August 1 transfer order issued by the directorate of Health & Family Welfare affecting Dr. Rongsenneken, junior specialist (general surgery), who has been overseeing the Chest Disease & TB Hospital, Mokokchung, in the absence of a dedicated medical officer.
In a press statement, AKM vice president Onenpong and general secretary Satemmongba noted that Mokokchung TB Hospital, a 50-bedded facility, was one of the district’s most critical institutions in the fight against tuberculosis, catering not only to Mokokchung but also to neighbouring districts.
While respecting administrative procedures, AKM maintained that enforcing the transfer without first appointing a suitable replacement would severely disrupt healthcare services and jeopardise patient treatment. AKM reiterated that it would not allow the transfer of Dr. Rongsenneken without a replacement, preferably a medical officer, who must assume duty before the transfer is effected.
