Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) on Monday announced its decision to “temporarily” suspend the ongoing agitation with immediate effect after “careful consideration of the arrangements undertaken by the health & family welfare (H&FW) department.
In a press release, AKM vice president Onenpong and general secretary Satemmongba stated that as per AKM demands regarding the issue of shortage of doctors at IMDH, Mokokchung, the H&FW department issued an order (DHFW-1/884/MISC/2025-26), (HFW(A)-T&P-3/14/22) & (NHM/HR/58/2017-18) in response and officially highlighted the transfer and posting of medical officers, along with directives to ensure the immediate availability of healthcare personnel at IMDH, Mokokchung to meet AKM demands.
AKM said the decision to suspend agitation was made in good faith, recognizing the efforts undertaken by the department to resolve the matter. However, AKM urged the department to fulfil its order not only in letter but also in action.
AKM said it would continue to closely monitor the implementation of the directives and agreed-upon measures to ensure its concerns were fully addressed.
Further, AKM urged the state government to immediately conduct the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) examinations without delay to address the shortage of doctors and other essential personnel in the healthcare sector. AKM affirmed to “persistently pursue” the issue until and unless NPSC examination was conducted, failing which further necessary actions would be initiated.
AKM expressed hope the department remained committed to fulfilling its assurances, adding it looked forward to constructive dialogue and continued progress on the matter.
