Akuluto Area GBs’ Association (AAGBA), Akuluto Town GBs Council (ATGBC), VK Area GBs Association (VKAGBA) and VK Area Public Organization (VKAPO) on Monday announced that starting from August 17, indefinite bandh would be imposed on all the roads under Akuluto and VK jurisdiction– NH-2 (from Izheto Village to Doyang Bridge VK Town) and NH-702 (A) (from Sumi Settsu Village to Zunhekuta Akuluto Town).
In a joint press release, AAGBA president, Yehokhu Chophy; VKAPO president, Mughato Kinnimi and VKAGBA president, Nitoyi Assumi, stated that the decision to impose bandh was taken at an emergency meeting on August 6. The signatories stated that despite appeal to chief engineer, National Highway, to restore the NH-702 (A) within the month of July 2017, there was no response from the department so far.
Meanwhile, the signatories said that only military and medical department will be exempted from the pruview of the bandh.
It may be mentioned that, the VK-Akuluto NGOs, in an appeal letter to chief engineer, dated July 9, 2017, highlighted the deplorable road condition and appealed for restoration of the road condition within the month of July 2017. They had also cautioned that failure on the part of the department would compel the area public to close the highway for an indefinite period of time.
