All Sumi Students’ Union demands ‘immediate’ repair of NH-702A

Expressing concern over “extremely poor road condition” of National Highway-702A connecting Zunheboto town, the All Sum Students’ Union (SKK) has demanded the responsible authority to immediately repair the highway.

In a representation addressed to the engineer-in-chief PWD (National Highway) Nagaland, the SKK vice president Kazheto Yeptho and joint secretary Benjamin Kinimi stated that the work order was awarded to M/s Multi Builders on May 23, 2017 for “Improvement of Riding Quality on NH-702A in Nagaland from km 40.00 to km 53.00”.

SKK lamented the work was completed only a year ago, but the present road condition has gone from bad to worse due to poor workmanship putting public safety at high risk.

In the light of the above, SKK has called upon the responsible authority to provide quality work along the stretch of NH-702A as per the prescribed specification without delay.

Meanwhile, SKK, which inspected ongoing road works under PMGSY in the district, has appealed to all the contractors and responsible inspection officers of the department to carry out quality work as per the specifications.

Stating that it was closely monitoring the works, SKK has warned that the contractors would be held equally responsible for any poor quality work and stringent steps would be initiated to blacklist their firms.
