Lok Sabha MP, Neiphiu Rio in a letter to NPF president, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu said that he had always “kept the interest of the state above every other consideration and that his priority was to continue working for the party and the welfare of the state”.
In the letter made available to the media, Rio had written to the NPF president on January 26, 2016 with regard to the party’s reconciliation process that was necessitated on the advice of the Election Commission of India.
He reminded that he along with late Khekiho Zhimomi, then Rajya Sabha MP, had expressed their concern on the “lack of proper discussion for effecting meaningful and lasting reconciliation, but were disappointed that the true spirit of reconciliation was not upheld”. Rio said he and Zhimomi had approached the NPF president “individually and jointly with suggestions and recommendation for fostering an atmosphere of goodwill and brotherhood to facilitate the reconciliation process and the need for better coordination between the government and the two MPs from Nagaland”.
In the letter, Rio stated that even after “discussion and assurance”, there had been no consultation by party leaders or elected members regarding party affairs or government matters with him at any point of time…”
