Ambulance drivers, attendants trained on first aid

DIMAPUR: A training programme on “first Aid for ambulance drivers and attendants” was conducted on May 13 at the CMO Conference Hall, Phek, with Dr. Wemeri Khutsoh, senior medical officer, District Hospital Phek, as the resource person.
The training aimed to equip participants with basic life saving skills to provide immediate assistance to injured persons before medical help arrives, handle road accidents effectively and improve survival chances in critical conditions.
Trainees were oriented on the importance of first aid and the need for every ambulance to be equipped with a first aid box. Roles and responsibilities of drivers and attendants during emergencies were highlighted. Dr. Khutsoh emphasized skills such as effective communication, teamwork, quick response and knowledge of emergency equipment and procedures.
The ABCDE approach for emergency response was explained, along with the importance and steps of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) for use in critical situations.
