In protest against government’s failure to release pending salaries, the All Nagaland Aggrieved Hindi Teachers Association (ANAHTA) at an emergency meeting February 13 in Kohima has decided to “bunk classes” starting February 16. In a press release, ANAHTA convenor Keneikhrielie and general secretary Lanuinla Ao said the house also decided to start fresh agitation beginning February 18 if the pay was not released by February 17.
ANAHTA also slammed government’s failure to live up to its promises of resolving the pending pay issue within January 31, 2015 to release the 6th RoP with arrears benefits and cautioned that it shall not be tolerated anymore. The house also took strong note on the non-release of 6 months of pay leading to acute hardship of teachers and their families.
Meanwhile, the association has reacted to a news report published February 11, in which it was purportedly stated that fund has already been released on November, 2014 by MHRD for 3 months”.
ANAHTA clarified that it had never mentioned in the open letter that fund was released for 3 months.
