ANARPTF reacts to ANGPTA over membership fee issue

DIMAPUR, MAR 18 (NPN):

All Nagaland Adhoc Regularised Primary Teachers’ Forum (ANARPTF) has strongly reacted to the recent statement by All Nagaland Government Primary Teachers’ Association (ANGPTA), published in local dailies on March 18, 2026, cautioning primary teachers against paying membership fees to unauthorized individuals or groups.
In a press release, ANARPTF convenor T. Ezanthung Lotha, general secretary Rhanthungo Kikon, joint secretary Kiyaselie Mere, and joint secretary T. Langkong clarified the historical context and current position of their forum.
ANARPTF stated that from 2014 to early 2018, all primary teachers across Nagaland functioned under the umbrella of ANGPTA. However, during the ANGPTA general meeting held on December 17, 2017, the house unanimously resolved to prepare the primary teachers’ seniority list with effect from the date of appointment.
Despite this collective decision, a section of ANGPTA leaders—who were direct regular appointees—proceeded to insist that the seniority list be prepared from the date of regularization instead of appointment.
This move aggrieved the adhoc regularised teachers, prompting the All Nagaland Adhoc Regularised Teachers’ Forum to unanimously resolve to part ways with ANGPTA and rejoin the apex teachers’ body, the All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA), in June 2018.
The forum further noted that the department of school education issued an order dated June 13, 2024, directing that the primary teachers’ seniority list be reviewed and prepared in accordance with the government’s standing orders, taking into account the service conditions of each teacher.
However, to the dismay of primary teachers, the group claiming to represent ANGPTA—comprising only a few direct regular appointees—submitted a seniority list covering approximately 1,500 primary teachers, whereas the actual number of primary teachers in the state ranges from 8,000 to 10,000.
Citing the alleged misconduct and unconstitutional functioning of ANGPTA office bearers, ANARPTF stated that it has been cooperating with and functioning under ANSTA since rejoining the apex body in 2018.
The forum has been regularly contributing nominal membership fees to ANSTA for the welfare of teachers.
In light of this, ANARPTF appealed to all adhoc regularised primary teachers to confidently contribute their membership fees to ANSTA without any doubt or confusion.
The forum assured that the fees collected were utilised solely for the purpose of advancing the welfare and interests of teachers across Nagaland.
