ANATG stir: RPP accuses govt of backtracking on commitment

DIMAPUR, FEB 7 (NPN)

Rising People’s Party (RPP) has described the ongoing ANATG-2015 protest as “completely justified” and accused the state government of backtracking on its commitment to regularize the ad hoc teachers.
In a press release, RPP said that the state government, after sustained protests in 2018 and 2022, set up a High-Powered Committee (HPC), which clearly stipulated that the government would regularise the services of the group within a set timeframe.
The party stated that ANATG-2015’s present stir against the betrayal of the NPF-BJP coalition government was justified. Urning the state government to treat the issue seriously, RPP said government should fulfil its own commitment without delay and stop indulging in further delay tactics.
RPP said that such an important issue involving the future and livelihoods of thousands of teachers and students cannot be allowed to drag on for years. RPP has, however, slammed as “utterly deplorable” the state government’s “insensitivity and misplaced priorities”. It added that the teachers were been made to suffer for decades contradicting claims of good governance. RPP said good governance begins only when government starts treating its employees with dignity and respect.
Warning the state government against escalating the issue further, RPP stressed that in democratic protests, unions and entities have the right to gather, raise slogans and submit memorandums. RPP said such activities should not be construed as anti-government nor should the authorities take umbrage.
