All Nagaland Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Association (ANAWAHA) Thursday announced launching of cease work agitation starting from October 11, 2019. In a press release, ANAWAHA president, Libeni Kikon, and general secretary, Kali Shohe, stated that the proposed agitation was to protest against alleged failure of the social welfare department to clear pending honorarium and arrears besides non-response to its representation and ultimatum served on the department. The association has also accused the social welfare department of neglecting timely release of honorarium. ANAWAHA claimed that the “department has been playing this game long back when the centre decided to transfer the honorarium to the respective anganwadi workers and helpers accounts.” The association has warned that agitation would continue till the department released all pending honorarium and arrears.
